BRANCH SPOTLIGHT
3rd Anniversary Procession
for PURE Detroit.

Written by Roxann Scotella.

The Detroit Branch had a very successful procession this year. We had a crowd at the Hart Plaza and in Greek Town waiting for us as it has become an event that has formed a tradition in Detroit. This is our 3rd year and to my amazement, dancers were eager to participate, audience eagerly waiting for us. I don't think I have seen so many cars stopping, people waiting for our arrival, asking us already what date next year are we doing the procession.
The funniest thing, which could have not been funny, is that when we were dancing across the street from the police station on the court building property, a car was so busy watching us, that it hit the car in front of them, that was also stopped in the middle of the street watching us. Both cars just left afterwards.

The first 2 years, we made our procession as an introduction to Detroit, this year we took the New York's branch flyer altered it for Detroit, and handed it out to the public. We only raised $75.00 for childrens charity this year, but next year I know that we will be able to raise more. The last 2 years we did not raise any money.

I am proud to be a PURE faciltitator and very proud of all the facilitator in others cities to help our cause to continue on with such great meaning.

Every year gets better. I love having the young girls dance in our procession as well.

PURE Detroit's procession this year was participated by 28 dancers, 1 zill player, a tamborine player ( he is 10), and 3 drummers.
